Handing off the Baton!

RETIREMENT AND THE FINE ART OF THE BUCKET LIST

After 37 years or so of helping people ‘take back their lives’, it seems the wheel of life has turned and its now my turn to begin exploring the fine art of “The Bucket List”.

In many ways it seems like ‘just yesterday’ that I made the decision to return to school and seek a career as a chiropractic physician. Now that was truly a momentous decision that dramatically changed the course of my life; and one that I have not regretted. What a wonderful opportunity to be granted! The chance to learn about this amazing creation we call the human body. To see how incredibly complex and elegant a design each and every one of us are, and to witness the wondrous miracle of the brain, the nervous system and the human spine that protects and nourishes it, truly was a blessing and one that I am eternally grateful to have possessed.

I’ve often thought I should write a book about cases that I have treated over the years. To share some of the amazing recoveries I have witnessed and been a part of, to tell the stories of people whose lives truly were changed forever. These cases testify to the immense power of chiropractic and its ability to truly influence the health and well-being of people who are fortunate enough to receive the benefits that chiropractic has brought to the world.

Maybe one day I will write that book. One thing is for certain and that is the book would have to be enormous as the amount of cases and stories to share would be literally endless! Stay tuned and perhaps one day the book will become a reality!

As many of you probably know by now, Dr. Thomas Grace has trained with me for quite some time and has recently taken over Natural Pain Solutions and the Lordex Spine Institute to carry on the work that I began here in Portland some twelve years ago.

Dr. Grace in many ways reminds me of myself all those years ago when I was in my early years of practice. He has the same inquisitiveness, the dedication and love of his craft, devotion to his patients, friends, and family and loved ones. These are all excellent qualities and provide a strong foundation for leading the clinic well into the future.

If you haven’t yet met Dr. Grace, I encourage you to visit the clinic and take the opportunity of meeting him personally. You won’t be sorry you did and be sure to bring your friends and family along. Naturally, I’ll be there in the shadows looking over his shoulder and my spirit will forever be a resident at Natural Pain Solutions and the Lordex Spine Institute.

In the meantime it’s time for my family and I to perfect the “Fine Art of the Bucket List”, and plan to do some well-deserved cycling, traveling, and tooling around our magnificent roads in my sports car, top down if the Oregon weather permits. And maybe, just maybe, if the literary bug bites me hard enough, I’ll get down to writing that book…and who knows, you might find your own personal case within the pages!

May all your days be healthy in mind, body and spirit…I’ll miss each and every one of you as the journey continues.
